Kenya Sirimon down chogoria safari combined with Lake
Nakuru/Masai Mara safari
A 10 Days adventure Mount Kenya trek /wildlife safari that
combines the two most scenic routes of Mt Kenya. Ascent is
on the dry side of mountain which offers some of the finest
walking. Climb up through forest into a wide ridge approach
to the summit area then proceed for a game viewing safari
via the scenic floor of the great rift valley into the world
famous Bird Sanctuary of Lake Nakuru, then South over the
Mau Escarpment to Kenya's greatest concentration of game -
the Maasai Mara game reserve where the annual wildebeest
migration takes place every year starting from July through
to October.
Day 1 : Arrival – Nairobi
Meet and assist Services at Jomo Kenyatta airport Nairobi
then transfer to Boulevard hotel for overnight stay in
readiness for an adventure trekking safari to start the
following morning.
Day 2: Nairobi/Sirimon/Judmier Camp (Old Moses Camp) 3-4
hrs, 9km, 860m ascent
Leave Nairobi at 8 am to Nanyuki town for lunch, taking
about 4 hours. Proceed to Sirimon Gate, 1 hr, 2440m. From
the gate follow the track as it winds uphill though the
forest which becomes heath land after about 3 hrs. About 3½
hours from the gate the track veers right to Judmier Camp,
3300m for dinner and overnight,
Day 3: Judmier Camp/Shipton Camp 6-7hrs, 14km, 900m ascent
After breakfast, follow the track uphill, forking left at
the junction. After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track
crosses Ontulili River. Go right contouring through the
Moorland and crossing Liki North and continue uphill to
Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up
the valley towards the main peaks. Dinner and overnight at
Shipton Camp, 4200m,
Day 4: Shipton Camp
Spend the day acclimatizing. Walk to Kami Hut down to
Hauseberg Lakes (Hauseberg Tarn and Nanyuki Tarn). Walk back
to Shipton for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Shiptons/Point Lenana/Mount Meru Bandas (Chogoria
Gate) 6 hrs, 14km, 785m ascent
Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a
cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns
arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After
the sunrise, descend down to Mintos hut, 2hrs, for breakfast
and further hrs down to Mount Meru Bandas, 2950m, for dinner
and overnight,
Day 6: Chogoria Bandas/Chogoria/Lake Nakuru
Descend 2hr, 15km to forest clearance to catch a 4x4
transfer vehicle to Chogoria connect with your transfer
vehicle to Lake Nakuru - dinner and overnight relaxation at
a hotel in Nakuru
Day 7 : Nakuru National park - full day game drives
Early breakfast then proceed for a full day game drives at
Lake Nakuru national park with packed lunches.Dinner and
overnight stay at a hotel
Lake Nakuru's claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo's
and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake
itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The
sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite
spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in
pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important
haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild
Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck,
buffalo and baboons are all residents here
Day 8: Nakuru - Masai Mara
Depart the camp soon after breakfast and drive via the
scenic floor of the Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara. Lunch
at a campsite before proceeding for evening

Day 9: Masai Mara
Full day spent exploring the park in search of the big
5.Morning and afternoon game drives are offered. Optional
hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of
US$ 425 per person. Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Sidai
Camp
The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that
it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have
been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos,
hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo,
warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many
kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that
perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world
takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of
wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search
of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the
predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal,
hyena and vultures
Day 10: Masai Mara- Nairobi
Morning game drive then return to the campsite for
breakfast. We drive back to Nairobi dinner at the Carnivore
restaurant then transfer to the airport to board your home
bound flight.
