In Tanzania, Ngorongoro Crater is said to have the
world’s densest population of lion. In Lake Manyara
lions have developed a liking for residing in the
branches of trees, where they can both sleep and watch

areas. The reserve covers 700 square miles of
magnificent wilderness. It is the Africa of the
imagination; endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands
studded with hazy hills. Afternoon game drive to see the
sundowner as hoping to see Lions in large prides,
Elephants, buffalos, zebras and numerous plain .Dinner

The
Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance
that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of
animals have been recorded here. You will easily see
lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests,
zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals,
wild dogs,
buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant.
It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular
event of the natural world takes place. This is the
annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra
from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and
pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of
the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and
vultures
Day 4 Masai Mara - Lake Nakuru National park
Depart the camp soon after breakfast and proceed to Lake
Nakuru National park. Lunch at Lake Nakuru guest house
then proceed for afternoon game drives at Lake Nakuru, a
shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley, renowned for
its spectacular flamingo population as one of the
world's greatest ornithological spectacles. Although
Lake Nakuru is primarily a bird sanctuary, there are a
considerable number of animals to be encountered, such
as many large game animals such as zebras, elephants and
gazelles, this is one of our best chances of seeing
rhinos. Lake Nakuru National Park was the first place in
Kenya selected as a rhino reserve. Here is one of the
few places where we can see Rothschild's giraffes.
Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru guest house
Day 5 : Lake Nakuru – Amboseli

Namanga border. We also pass through Arusha to Lake
Manyara National park with lunch enroute. Regardless of
the direction we approach Manyara from,
the view is always fantastic. We proceed to a camp for
dinner and overnight stay.
Lake
Manyara is a shallow, alkaline lake that is part of the
Rift Valley wall; the lake is at the base of this
dramatic western escarpment giving it a beautiful and
serene setting. In addition to this peaceful setting,
Lake Manyara’s main attractions are its rich bird life,
tree climbing lions and its hippos, which you can see at
a closer range than many other places. Lake Manyara also
hosts thousands of flamingos at certain times of the
year and has diverse vegetation ranging from savannah,
to marshes and acacia woodland, enabling a variety of
wildlife habitats including butterflies.
Day 7: Lake Manyara - Serengeti National park
Morning game drives at Lake Manyara National park then
proceed to Serengeti national park. Game is viewed as we
proceed to the campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 Serengeti National park
National park
Full day spent exploring the park .
Serengeti is Africa’s most famous and Tanzania’s largest
park covering 14,736 sq km and is adjoining with the
Masai Mara National reserve in Kenya. With a wildebeest
population of about 2 million and several other hoofed
species (which include zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, impala,
topi, Grants gazelle, Kongoni, Eland, Kirk’s dik dik,
klipspringer, roan, Oryx, oribi, waterbuck, buffalo,
giraffe and warthog), the Serengeti is sure to attract a
string of prey such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena,
golden jackals and bat eared foxes. Elephants are
relatively scarce and the few remaining black rhinoceros
are restricted to the Moru Koppies area.
Serengeti also offers rewarding bird viewing with
ostrich and kori bustard being common, a variety of
larks, finches, and raptors can be seen but the most
distinctive small bird is the lilac breasted roller.
Day 9: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, we drive south to the
magnificent Ngorongoro crater enter into the crater for
a full day crater tour with packed lunches ascend the
crater and drive to Simba campsite for dinner and
overnight stay
The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s biggest whole
volcanic caldera at 8300 sq km and is arguably the most
stunning arena. It is frequently described as one of the
wonders of the world, not only because of its geological
magnificence, but also because it serves as an
extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s
largest populations of large mammals.

Wildebeest migration cycle
The endless plains of east Africa are the setting for the
world's greatest wildlife spectacle - the 1.5 million animal
ungulate (wildebeest) migration. From
the vast Serengeti plains to the champagne colored hills of
Kenya's Masai Mara over 1.4 million
wildebeest and 200,000 zebra and gazelle, relentlessly tracked
by Africa's great predators, migrate in a clockwise fashion over
1,800 miles each year in search of rain ripened grass.
There is no real beginning or end to a wildebeest's journey. Its
life is an endless pilgrimage, a constant search for food and
water. The only beginning is at the moment of birth. An
estimated 400,000 wildebeest calves are born during a six week
period early each year - usually between late January and
mid-March.
DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH
The Serengeti National Park / Ngorongoro Conservation Area is
arguably the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world.
During the months December through March the seemingly unending
plains of the southern Serengeti and the Conservation Area are
inhabited by enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra. The great
herds graze on rain ripened grass. In the calving season (late
January through mid March) the herds concentrate at the
Ndutu and Salei
plains ( Southern Serengeti / Ngorongoro Conservation Area)
attracting the attention of predators like lion, cheetah and
hyena.
APRIL, MAY
During the months April and May the depleted plains are unable
to sustain the endless herds. The migration, sweeping west and
north, moves from the short grass plains of the southern
Serengeti / Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the long grass
plains and woodland of the Serengeti's western Corridor, almost
to Lake Victoria . This period is during the long rains and is
considered off season for wildlife viewing in east Africa as
roads are often impassable.
JUNE
By the end of May the wildebeest have exhausted the Western
Corridor's best pastures and the herds must move further north.
Entering the Lamai Wedge and the
Mara Triangle breeding occurs May through June. This is a
transitional period between the rains and the dry season.
JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER
By July the countless herds have
amassed along the swollen Mara River - a final barrier from the
short sweet grasses of the Masai
Mara. Sometimes the crossing place they have chosen is shallow
allowing the majority of animals to pass safely. In other areas
the waters boil with drowning wildebeest and slashing
crocodiles. Between July and October the wildebeest reside in
the Mara.
NOVEMBER
The arrival of the short rains call the migration southward.
As November ends the migration is making its way back to the
southern Serengeti and early in the year they once again give
birth. The circle of life is complete.
*Note - the migration is a natural event and the timing varies
month by month; year by year.
